IEC Submission Guidelines

Dear SGR member:

For over ten years, the SGR has sponsored a collaborative educational program with colleagues from central and South America. This program, the International Educational Conference, sponsors the expenses of an SGR faculty team as they attend and participate in a national or regional radiological conference.

Over the years, our faculty teams have traveled to Guatemala, Peru, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Uruguay, Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala and Argentina. Over 45 different SGR members have participated as faculty members in this program. They have returned from their SGR-sponsored international educational travel energized and inspired by the intellectual and cultural exchange.

This year, the selected SGR faculty will travel away from central and South America, to another country that welcomes members of our Society and is eager to be educated in abdominal radiology – South Africa.

This year will mark the first RSSA/SGR Gastrointestinal Radiology Course, to be held August 7-9, 2010, in Cape Town, South Africa.

Upcoming IEC Program

For the 2011 year, the selected SGR faculty will travel back to South America to Colombia. With that said, we now invite you to apply for an SGR Faculty position for the 2011 International Education Conference to be held in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, August 4-6, 2011, as part of the annual meeting of the Colombian Radiology Association. We anticipate that there will be an opportunity for sightseeing during our visit, but this has not yet been finalized. The brief application is attached; the application submission deadline is Friday, September 3, 2010. This is a strict deadline as our hosts must prepare their annual meeting program in which we will be incorporated.

NOTE – If you have applied for the IEC program in the past and would like to have that application considered for the 2011 review process, please contact Angela Davis at adavis@meetingmanagers.com to confirm reactivation of your application and to find out if any additional materials are necessary. Please note that participation as a faculty member is limited to once every three years, and that the same deadline of Friday, September 3, 2010, applies to reactivated applications.

The SGR supports the air travel to Colombia for this program, and our hosts will be providing all local arrangements including local travel, lodging, and most meals. The SGR will provide one approved coach class ticket for each faculty member. The ticket can be upgraded; however, each faculty member is responsible for any fees incurred for his/her upgrade(s). Reasonable ground transportation (i.e. taxi to the airport) expenses will also be reviewed and reimbursed as approved by the Society.
